Who administers the ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program (ACT-CP)?
The ADA Coordinator Training Program was developed by the University of Missouri School of Health Professions Disability Studies and Policy Center and the Great Plains ADA Center. The program is coordinated and administered by the Great Plains ADA Center while policy and programming is overseen by the Disability Studies and Policy Center.
Why offer an ADA Coordinator Training Certification?
The ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program was developed in response to a need for both quality training on the Americans with Disabilities Act and a mechanism to verify completed training and depth of knowledge base on ADA issues. The ADA Coordinator Training Certification program addresses these issues by:
1) identifying specific training content
2) verifying quality sources of training,
3) verifying completion of training credits and training topics and,
4) providing an examination to demonstrate mastery of content.
Is training provided by the ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program?
The ACT-CP does not directly provide training. It is the responsibility of the participant to choose training from the training sources identified by ACT-CP in order to complete the requirements. Particpants may also use other sources of training, if the training is approved by ACT-CP, to complete their training credit requirements.
Who issues the Certification?
The Certification is issued by the University of Missouri-School of Health Professions Disability Studies and Policy Center.
Do you have to be an ADA Coordinator to participate in the ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program?
No. The program is available to anyone who wishes to participate and meet the stated requirements.
How were the requirements for the ACT Certification Program established?
The requirements are based on surveys of ADA Coordinators, focus-group feedback, and input from the ACTCP Program Advisory Board.
How can I make sure that my certification reflects the most current information available?
A hallmark of the ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program is assurance that the training completed reflects the most current information available on ADA regulations and guidelines. The ACT Certification Program will provide timely updates on ADA regulations and guidelines, new ADA resources, and other pertinent information.
Is there a time limit on how long I can take to complete ADA Coordinator Certification Training Program?
Yes. Applicants must have completed all required credits within three years of registering to begin the program.
How do I submit a training I attended for credit approval?
Applicants must complete the “Request for Approval” form and submit it to the ADA Coordinator Training Certification Program prior to attending the training or within 60 days of completing the training.
Who is responsible for approval of courses and maintaining records of completed credits?
The ACT Certification Program is coordinated and administered by the Great Plains ADA Center. Policy decisions are made by an advisory board formed by the University of Missouri School of Health Professions Disability Studies and Policy Center.
